St. Patrick Craft Ideas with Kids
This pot of gold and rainbow craft can also be used as an educational project for preschool age children. Work on color recognition, counting, and even name and letter recognition with the pipe cleaners used in this simple craft.
Older children will enjoy making the craft on their own. Just make sure you use a cool touch glue gun to protect little fingers. When the project is complete they have an adorable pot of gold underneath a colorful rainbow to share with friends.
It’s also a great way to introduce concepts like how rainbows are formed, what the colors in the rainbow represent and of course, why we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Rainbow Pot of Gold Craft
Are you ready to gather your supplies so that you can start making your rainbow and pot of gold craft for St. Patty’s day? Let’s get started!
Pipe Cleaners in rainbow colors
Gold foil wrapped chocolate coins
Miniature white price tags
Washable green marker
Black plastic pots or cauldrons
Black and white baker’s twine
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Gather all of your supplies. Select seven rainbow colored pipe cleaners, and pop the handles off of the cauldrons.
Starting in the middle with the yellow pipe cleaner attach each color pipe cleaner to the top flat edge of the pot with your hot glue gun.
The easiest way to make sure the pipe cleaners are straight is to use the seam on the side of the pot as your guide.
Once the glue is cooled and set, bend the pipe cleaners and attach them to the other side of the plastic pot.
Write the recipient’s name on the miniature price tag with your green marker.
Thread the tag onto the baker’s twine and tie it around the top of the black pot.
Fill the plastic pot with the paper shreds and gold foil covered chocolate coins.
These cute pots full of gold and rainbows can be completed in just about 15 minutes if you have your supplies set up and ready to go.
Make several of these Saint Patrick’s Day art projects to give your friends, family, or child’s classmates to help celebrate St. Patrick’s day with a rainbow and chocolate candy!
